Kitchen Cabinet Surface Guide: MDF Lam, Acrylic, PET, High-Gloss and Supermatt

The door surface decides both the look and the long-term durability of a kitchen. Rubino offers the Kastamonu Entegre standard ranges and the Lake custom-paint programme. Below is a summary of where each surface is the right call.

MDF Lam (Melamine)

The most economical and most common option. Scratch-resistant, with a wide range of colours and wood patterns. For rental units and high-volume projects, it has the strongest price/performance balance.

PET

Stands out for high scratch and UV resistance. Available in matt and gloss, with strong colour stability. It offers a step up in durability over melamine for heavily used kitchens.

Acrylic

For projects that want high gloss and depth. Delivers a smooth, seamless surface and vivid colour. Preferred in premium residential and showroom applications.

High-Gloss and Supermatt

• High-Gloss — a mirror-effect surface; bright, modern and spacious
• Supermatt — an anti-fingerprint ultra-matt surface; a tactile, calm aesthetic

Lake — custom painting

For projects that go beyond the standard swatches, Lake custom painting: matt, semi-matt and gloss to RAL, NCS or a sample. It comes into play where the architectural concept requires an exact colour match.
